May 6-10 – Mental Health Week

– May 6-10 is Children’s mental health awareness week.  We will be doing activities throughout the week to promote mental health and to practise a few strategies.

May 8 – Talking about Education Cuts

gym, 6:30pm to learn about organizing around the education cuts in our community

May 10 – Art Show

– Friday, May 10th is our Art Show from 1-4 p.m.  We are excited to showcase a variety of art projects in the gym.

May 14th – Folkfest, East York CI field

– Our Grades 5 and 6 classes will be showcasing their dancing moves at Folkfest on May 14th from 6 – 8pm at EYCI field.  Everyone is welcome to come cheer on our Grades 5 and 6 dancers!

May 16th – Welcome to Kindergarten

– Such an exciting time! We will be welcoming families with students entering JK in September 2019 into classrooms from 9:40 -11:00 a.m.

May 22-29 – EQAO

– For our Grades 3 and 6 students, EQAO is quickly approaching. The dates are May 22-29. Additional information will be sent home in May.

May 25th – Fun Fair

– 11am-3pm for the most “fun”part, but we will be needing LOTS of volunteers to make the magic happen!

June 12th – Home & School meeting

– 7pm, library

– meeting to discuss final monies raised and budget for next year

– next steps for School Council that starts fall 2020 (if you want to be on the Election Committee please let us know – this means you can’t run for a position but you are a very important part of the process)

June 14th – tentative – Movie Night (the last one for this year!)

– this is pending approval of the permit but our last movie – for everyone! – will hopefully be on this evening, 6pm doors open 6:30pm movie starts

June 26th – Grade 6 Graduation

– June 26 at 1:00 p.m. is the Grade 6 graduation.

Apr. 1 – Silent Auction and Rally for Education


– THIS Friday night, 7-10PM, in the gym.

Our school’s biggest fundraiser is almost here and we need your help in this last week for a successful event!

  • Advance tickets for Teacher Experience and Class Painting Tickets will be sold Tuesday and Wednesday morning from 8:30 to 9:15 in front foyer. (Click here to see the Experiences)
  • Class Baskets will be wrapped this THURSDAY at 3:30.  ALL themes are here. Many classes only have a few items.  Please contribute if you can. 
  • Anyone work near 403 and 410? We need a parent to pick up Mississauga Steelheads tickets at their stadium (or will have to forego this item)


  • Bring in a class basket item
  • Come wrap baskets Thursday in library (anytime 3:30-6pm, no small kids please)
  • Help with setup Friday in the gym (anytime 1-5pm)

What better way to show your support for a robust public education system than attending this Saturday’s Rally for Education at Queen’s Park at 12pm (noon). Families are encouraged to participate!

Mar. 25th Update

Home & School’s next meeting. Movie Night. Silent Auction – class baskets. Staff Appreciation Luncheon. 

Home and School Meeting: The next home and school meeting will be held Mar. 28 at 7 pm in the library. Child care will be available. The meeting agenda will include information about all our upcoming events, next year’s school council, the upcoming budget proposals and the proposed mural on the cement wall along Bain Ave.

Movie Night #3: Ralph Breaks The Internet! Our next family movie night is Friday, Mar. 29 in the school gym at 6:30 pm. Snacks available for purchase, BYOWB and blankets. Click here for the poster and more info!

Silent Auction: The Withrow Silent Auction is just around the corner on Friday, April 5th! The Class Basket Boxes are going into the classrooms this Monday, March 25th. Please find the themes for 2019 below. If possible, kindly contribute a little something in the next 2 weeks. We will wrap each classrooms’ box into beautiful baskets for bidding on the night of the event. We will pick up the boxes for wrapping on Thursday, April 4th at 3:30.

Staff Appreciation Luncheon: Put on your chef’s hat and pull out your favourite recipes! The annual Staff Appreciation Luncheon will be held on Friday, April 12th. Look for the sign up being emailed through your class rep to donate your favourite appetizers, salads, main dishes and desserts. Don’t cook? Volunteer your time setting up or the ever popular clean up! It truly is a wonderful way to say thank you to all our teachers, administration and entire staff of Withrow PS!
